AHS Warranty - About AHS A little over thirty-five years ago, a unique, new concept for providing home warranty protection on major residential systems and appliances was conceived and American Home Shield (AHS) was founded. The idea was well received and today American Home Shield is America's home warranty company, servicing 49 states and over 1.2 million homeowners. In 1989, the company was purchased by The ServiceMaster Company (NYSE: SVM). ServiceMaster is a worldwide provider of commercial and residential home service companies including ServiceMaster Clean, TruGreen/ChemLawn and Terminix. With the investments and support of ServiceMaster, American Home Shield strives for continued success and pioneering new ideas. The Home Warranty Plan is issued, administered and offered exclusively by: American Home Shield Corporation, American Home Shield of Arizona, American Home Shield of California, American Home Shield of Florida, American Home Shield of Iowa, American Home Shield of Maine, American Home Shield Mid-Atlantic, American Home Shield of Mississippi, American Home Shield of Nevada, New Jersey Home Shield Corporation, American Home Shield of Ohio, American Home Shield of Texas, American Home Shield of Virginia and American Home Shield of Washington. Why An AHS Warranty? Don't wait until it breaks to ask... Who Will I Call? How Will I Pay For It? An AHS warranty is a homeowner's best defense against expensive repair and replacement bills. What is a home warranty?A home warranty is a service contract, usually covering one year, which helps protect homeowners against the cost of unexpected covered repairs or replacement on their major systems and appliances that break down due to normal wear and tear.* What is Basic Home Warranty Coverage?Generally, basic coverage for a home under 5,000 square feet, regardless of age includes the home's heating, plumbing, electrical system, water heater and major appliances, such as range/oven/cooktop, dishwasher, garbage disposal, etc.* Home warranties are available for homes that are over 5,000 square feet for an additional fee. Is the AHS plan renewable?Yes, warranty-holders may renew the AHS plan (at the option of AHS). American Home Shield will notify the homeowner in advance of the expiration date, and AHS will offer a variety of convenient payment plans. I'm in the market for a home. What's the benefit of buying a home covered by an AHS home warranty? An AHS home warranty helps provide protection during and after a home purchase. When a covered system or appliance breaks down due to normal wear and tear, you're protected for repair or replacement.* There's no need to get back in touch with the real estate agent or track down the previous owner. I'm selling my home. Why would I want a home warranty? An AHS home warranty gives buyers additional confidence in a real estate transaction—they know that AHS stands behind the covered systems or appliances in the house. If they break down, buyers are covered for repair or replacement.* An added benefit to the seller is that buyers will be calling us with their problems—not you. My home systems and appliances are old. Does that matter to AHS?No, the age of a home or its systems and appliances does not matter to AHS. We cover items that are in good working condition at the time you purchase the plan and properly maintained.* Plus, AHS covers all makes and models of appliances and systems.* Does AHS need to inspect my home systems and appliances before I enroll? No, AHS home warranty coverage does not require a home inspection to purchase.* Is there a fee for each visit?Yes, a fee called a trade service call fee is paid directly to the contractor for each covered breakdown, no matter what the actual cost of the repair or replacement for your covered item.* What is a trade service call fee?A trade service call fee is the amount due when a contractor visits your home. Each type of breakdown falls into a "trade" category, for example: a leaky pipe qualifies as a plumbing breakdown, while a broken dishwasher is an appliance breakdown. Since it may require more than one contractor or several unrelated trips to the house by the same contractor (once to fix the pipe, another to fix the dishwasher), there is a fee due for each "trade" a service call covers. It's perfectly alright to report more than one breakdown at a time. Additional fees may apply if the repairs fall into different categories.* Is there a limit to the number of repairs AHS covers? No, American Home Shield allows an unlimited number of covered repairs. You simply pay...
Low Annual Contract Price (One Year Plan) - Varies by location & plan, plus a $60.00 Trade Service Fee due each time service is rendered.* * For a copy of the contract that details specific coverage, exclusions, or limitations call American Home Shield at 1-800-247-4749. Coverage excludes systems and appliances designated by the manufacturer as commercial. The trade service fee is for each visit by a service technician. Additional charges may apply to some repairs and replacements. Estimated Replacement Costs are based on a nationwide survey of AHS's independent network of service technicians who estimated the range of retail costs (from low to high) for the repairs and replacements listed. Pricing may vary in your geographic area. Customer Benefits
